Perryville Road, Cape Girardeau

After the light remodel on our last house, this one was definitely a tough challenge! We purchased this home without EVER SEEING THE INSIDE. A leap of faith to be sure! When we got our keys and our first look, we were stunned. The previous homeowners left so much in the home, it took us awhile to even clear it out! And let us tell you, it was grimy. Luckily, deep cleaning has always been one of Lori’s many remodeling skills.

And the demo! In addition to the traditional sitting room right in the front door, this home had an extra living space at the entrance from the garage, but it was completely closed off from the rest of the house. We knocked down the wall separating it, switching up the entire orientation of the kitchen so that we’d have over 50ft of dining room/kitchen/living space flow. With new lighting, new flooring, new appliances, BEAUTIFUL open shelving, quartz countertops, and a peninsula bar to provide a bit of a boundary, we considered moving into this one ourselves!

Some other highlights:

• Laundry – The only hookups were in the basement, so we expanded the hall bathroom to be able to move the laundry up to the main floor for convenience.
• Bathrooms – Both bathrooms got a serious facelift with entirely updated tiled showers, GORGEOUS tiled flooring, and vanities.
• Windows – Definitely time for an update here. We replaced all main floor windows, intentionally choosing black framing on the exterior to really complement the deep colored brick.
• Deck – A leaning concrete slab was removed and replaced with a completely new deck off that back living space.
• Back Yard – The home was on almost an entire acre, but to say it was overgrown was an understatement. Now you’d never know! The entire backyard is fenced for pet-friendly families, with so much room for gardens upon gardens or batting cages or pools or whatever floats your boat.

When we look at the before and afters for this home, it still blows our minds. We’re especially proud of this one!
